7. Multiple Ontologies: Religiosities, Philosophies, Languages and Society
Bali has been the epitome of Indonesia’s tourism since the 20th century. The popularity of this island has brought fascination and space for discussions among scholars across disciplines. From the linguistics perspective, especially corpus linguistics, there is a significant and potential exploration of the adjectives embedded in Bali tourism by utilising a 60.344 words-sized specialised corpus called The Bali Tourism Corpus (TBTC). Consequently, the primary focus of this study is to demonstrate the adjectives of Bali from TBTC and to reveal the context of the adjectives of Bali from TBTC. To achieve the objectives of this study, there were three steps conducted. Firstly, the authors selected the Wordlist (Frequency list) options of TBTC on SketchEngine software. Secondly, the authors chose the Advanced menu and selected the adjective – all. Third, the authors selected the top one hundred highest frequency of the word Bali. The study demonstrated that the adjectives of Bali comprised positive adjectives that strengthened the image of Bali as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations. Further, the study also implied that these adjectives were associated with natural and cultural aspects of Bali. The practical implications are also discussed further in this study.
