7. Multiple Ontologies: Religiosities, Philosophies, Languages and Society
Speech act runs into one of the adequate ways to be a communication device. As a branch of speech act, illocutionary acts can’t be separated in our society. It is not just telling the real meaning of an utterance, but it also conveys the speaker’s wants when it is delivered. Searle (in Yule, 1996:53) has defined five types of illocutionary acts which are assertives, declarations, commissives, directives, and expressive. Besides, written media are notable slogans or phrases commonly displayed on banners or other printed media as an exhibition of the idea or other specific purposes in order to get public's awareness. It is commonly used by Aremania, a football supporter community of Arema FC from Malang, East Java, toward a football deadly disaster called Kanjuruhan Stadium Tragedy which happened on October, 1st 2022. This research purposes to find out the types of illocutionary used on written media and its intention regarding the ruthless crush. The method of this research is descriptive-qualitative since the data were taken by using pictures, open-ended questionnaires, and in-depth interview. The findings show that there are five illocutionary acts found in the written media. It gives intentions of giving value true, making reader do something, establishing an obligation, showing feeling, and bringing some changes the circumstances. Moreover, it gives harsh criticisms from the supporters to the stake holders and shows the empathy toward the victims from fellow supporters.
