9. Foodscapes: Cultivation, Livelihoods, Gastronomy
This study aims to elaborate on collaborative strategies involving various partners to support the sustainability of dryland agricultural businesses and also adaptation strategies that have been implemented by farmers to reduce the impact of climate change. The condition of the dry land farming in upland areas in the southern part of Yogyakarta has high farming risks and unfavourable natural resource conditions. Since the last ten years, the agricultural community has collaborated with various parties such as the Department of Agriculture, Land Agency Office, Bank Indonesia, UGM, Electric Company and NGOs to support the sustainability of agricultural businesses. The agricultural community has also made various quite effective efforts to reduce the risk of climate change, such as the introduction of crop rotation [rice and shallots], the creation of micro-reservoirs to collect rainwater, the construction of deep wells, the creation of land terraces, the processing of shallot products, the strengthening of farmers institutions and pioneering agrotourism.
