Presentation Abstract The Four Travels is a late Ming Dynasty novel consisting of four travels, namely, the Journey to the North, The Journey to the South, and the Journey to the East as well as The Journey to the West associated with the famous romance entitled Journey to the West. The author has published his study on the Journey to the North ( In Chinese ). This time he will focus on the themes of Journey to the South, as part of his long-term interests and the project on the Four Travels. This paper will focus on the themes of Travel to the South, as part of his long-term interests and project on the Four Travels. This paper will examine the power of popular fiction in popularizing the hero to the extent of worshipping Hua Guangas a god in folk religion. The author is most likely to single out two of the most important themes of the novel: its Confucian morality especially filial piety and its concerns the livelihood of the common people, the later will be derived from a Theravada's political and social perspective, so as to balance and showcase how the amalgamation of Buddhist and Confucianist teachings in the development of Chinese culture. There are core values for magistrates as well as those embodied by Hua Guang have won the hearts of thousands of fiction readers. Such a situation helps spread and enhance the worship of God, which already has attracted believers in the folk religion.
