Exhibition during all ICAS 13 ConFest dates
Location: c2o Library & Collabtive
Exhibition Details: The exhibition aimed at remediating words, images, and patterns found in the many accounts written by ex-political prisoners and exiles and published between 1998 and 2022. The approach is grounded in a solid reading of the works, a selection of words, images, and phrases, which are materialized in various shapes and formats, with the aim to touch visitors and invite questions about a known event in Indonesian history. It involves projection, sound, light, paper crafts, and weaving, different mediums that punctuate the journey of the visitors through the exhibition - thought and designed - as a path to follow with different stations. The exhibition constitutes a follow-up to a collaboration started in 2022 at the Euroseas Paris between European and Indonesian academics, journalists, and artists. It aims to use art, as a language, to express academic research and spread the results of scientific studies in a non-conventional way, touching a wider public but also proposing a 'total' experience to participants, starting with words but going well beyond reading.
