Hua Xia is currently a lecturer at NingboTech University in Ningbo, China. His research interests include but are not limited to urban transport planning and policy, mobility study, non-motorised transport, urban informality, urban community, everyday life, urban history, theory, and criticism. Related research results have been published in a variety of English and Chinese journals and presented at multiple international conferences. In the past two years, Hua Xia was a major investigator of several research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Shanghai government, addressing the issues of transit-oriented development, public access to healthcare institutions and other living necessities, and inclusive cities. He currently holds a research project focusing on electric two-wheelers in the food and parcel delivery business, and improvisational space therefore produced across the city. Hua Xia received his doctoral degree in architecture from the National University of Singapore, and master degree in urbanism from the Delft University of Technology. His professional experience includes being a postdoc researcher at Tongji University, a research associate in the National University of Singapore and an urban designer in the Netherlands.
