A lecturer at the Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara since 1987 – present. Beside, I also a Vice Chairman, Center for Radicalism Studies, Univeritas Sumatera Utara 2012 – 2014, Dean Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara 2016 – 2021, International Advisory Board of InContext, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in South Korea 2021 – Present, and Head of Center for Cultural and Ethnic Studies, Universitas Sumatera Utara, 2021 – Present.
