Sri Sunarti Purwaningsih has been a researcher at the Population Research Center, Indonesian Institute of Sciences, now the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Indonesia, since 1987. She obtained her Master's degree in Demography (1992) and Ph.D. in Demography(1999) from the Australian National University. Her research focuses on family and health, particularly the social determinants of population health. Since 2020, she has been involved in research related to tourism. Her articles, which were jointly written with her colleagues, include Melihat Labuan Bajo Dari Dua Destinasi Wisata and Mencipta Rasa, Menjaring Bahan Baku in Cita Rasa Kuliner di Balik Keindahan Labuan Bajo, edited by M. Alie
Humaedi, published by Penerbit BRIN ©2022.She was also involved in research entitled Family and Community Resilience Survey, focusing on livelihood in tourism villages in 2021. In 2022, she did research on the resilience of families with elderly people in the community- based management tourism villages amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
