National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore
Haziq Hakimi is a PhD candidate in Comparative Asian Studies at NUS. Prior to joining NUS, he received his B.A. degree in International Relations from Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey) and M.A. degree in Strategic and Defence Studies from the University of Malaya (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). Haziq’s broad interests lie in International Relations Theory, Great Power Politics, International Security, Historical Sociology, Decolonial Thought, and Social Theory. As for his doctoral thesis, Haziq is interested in expanding the decolonial critique of international relations by proposing an alternative theoretical approach to international relations based on the School of Autonomous Knowledge. To that end, he plans on undertaking a comparative study of Malaysian and Turkish foreign policy and conceptions of security through that “autonomous” approach.
