Tanvir is a PhD candidate in the University of Glasgow, Scotland, funded by the College of Social Sciences PhD Scholarship. Their research project is about various community organizing in Bangladesh and West Bengal which touches upon digital culture and NGOisation. They have published academic and non-academic essays, and has produced cultural texts (video, zine, drawing) around the issues of gender, sexuality, and diversity. They have received fellowships and scholarships from the US Department of State, Human Rights Watch, Human Rights Campaign, and Acumen Academy Bangladesh.
Their career is a combination of arts management and community organizing and their work cuts across several disciplines with interests in arts, movement building and independent publication. They are a board member of the Bangladeshi queer organizing Oboyob Diversity Circle and among many of their projects, they curated a graphic anthology in 2020 to conserve the oral history of the local queer community members in Bangladesh.
They are a tutor at the University of Glasgow and a committee member of Post Graduate Gender Research Network (PGRN) Scotland. In their spare time, they enjoy making collage, hiking and street photography.
