Hugo is currently a Research Assistant Professor of Second Language Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong. His research intertest includes linguistic ethnography, discourse and conversation analysis, urban multilingualism, language use in transnational contexts in particularly focusing on ethnolinguistic minorities in Hong Kong, and Thailand. His current research project aims to describe how languages, music, and food intertwined in Bangkok, particularly the two invisible communities: Isan and 'new' Chinese.
