Prafulla Chandra College Kolkata, India
Born in 1959 at Kolkata and educated in Loreto House and then at
Jadavpur University she received her Ph.D degree in History in
1989 her dissertation on “Political Upsurges in Post-war India
1945-46” which was published in 1992. A Junior Research fellow
at the Netaji Institute For Asian Studies (1984-89). In 1992, she
received the study-cum Travel Grant from Indian Council of
Historical Research (ICHR), New Delhi, to work on a post-doctoral
project on “Manmohan Ghosh and his times : Socio Political
Perspectives in 19th century Bengal” .
Currently serving as an Associate Professor in History at
Prafulla Chandra College Kolkata, she taught History at
Berhampore Girls’ College, Murshidabad, West Bengal and has
been a guest Faculty at Jadavpur University and Burdwan
University. Her present Post-doctoral research on “The
Revolutionaries of Anushilan Samiti in Bengal and their
inter-provincial connections in India and Abroad (1935-47)”
was awarded Foreign Travel Grant by ICHR to gather source
materials at British Literary London in 2014. The same project
is under progress under UGC (MRP) Scheme for consulting source
materials in India.
She has published several research papers and has three edited
works. She has presented research papers at International and
National Conferences.
