Dr Al Chaidar Abdurrahman Puteh is a prominent anthropologist who was born in Lhokseumawe on November 22 1969. He studied undergraduate at the Department of Anthropology, University of Indonesia, and continued his master's and doctoral studies in the same field. He has a special interest in social, cultural and political issues in Aceh, especially related to conflict, peace and development. He has written and edited many books and scientific articles about Aceh, including Aceh: History, Culture and Traditions (2004), Aceh: Identity, Conflict and Peace (2005), and Aceh: From Conflict to Peace (2010). He is also a frequent resource person and consultant for various government, private and non-government institutions, both at home and abroad. He once served as Head of the Anthropology Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Malikussaleh University.
