I have retired as Professor of History in the Centre for Himalayan Studies, University of North Bengal, in India. .My area of interest and specialisation is Society, economy and environment of the Eastern Himalayas. I have published books on trends of urbanisation in the HImalayas and forests and people of the Himalayas and North east India. I have published many papers in journals and participated in national and international seminars and conferences. I have supervised Ph.D and M.Phil dissertations and taken M.A and M/Phil classes in the Centre.
