Diah Ariani Arimbi is a Professor of Cultural Studies and Gender, currently teaching at Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, Indonesia. She is also the Head of Language and Multicultural Center; a position she has been appointed since 2020. She received her Ph.D. from The University of New South Wales, Australia in Women’s and Gender studies, and her Master's degree in English literature from The University of Northern Iowa, USA. Her interests include feminisms, Indonesian women and their religious representations, and the ways women are portrayed in popular culture. She has published several articles in some Scopus indexed journals and Indonesian journals respectively. Her publications include Reading Contemporary Indonesian Muslim Women Writers: Representation, Identity and Religion of Muslim Women in Indonesian Fiction (Amsterdam University Press - ICAS Publications) in 2009 which was translated into Indonesian and published by Airlangga University Press in 2018. She was invited to teach in several universities such as in Taiwan, French, and Japan. Her current project is woman and health before and during covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.
