Originally from Brisbane, Australia, Esther has a PhD in Applied Linguistics from The University of Queensland. In 2018 she was a Visiting International Fellow at Showa Women’s University in Tokyo, where she conducted research on Japanese study abroad students and returnees. Since 2019 she has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Kanagawa University, where she teaches English, Comparative Culture, introduction to research, and a seminar on cultural adaptation and communication. In 2023 she was a Visiting Academic at The University of Western Australia, continuing her research on the communication patterns and cultural adaptation of Korean immigrants in Brisbane.
