Binay Kumar Pattnaik, Emeritus Professor of Sociology, currently working at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. With more than three decades of experience in teaching and research, he has contributed handsomely to the area of Sociology of Science and Technology and Sociology of Social Movements/ Social change. More particularly he has contributed to the studies on the effects of globalization and liberalization process on science and technology regimes in developing countries. His recent contributions include papers in People’s Science Movement in India (JSST) and Appropriate Technology Movement in India (TIS). His scholarly contributions include more than three dozens of research papers in journals of repute, and more than half a dozen books (both edited and written). His most recent edited book is being published from Springer Nature under the title; Environmental and Ecological Sustainability Through Indigenous Traditions. He has Guest Edited couple of international journals too. And he was a visiting professor to Russian Academy Sciences at Saint Petersburg, IIAS Shimla, NISER BBSR, Dept. of Sociology SBP University of Pune and Dept. of Sociology, Bombay University. He has been a research guide of more than a dozen doctoral/post-doctoral theses.
