Dr. Nur Widiyanto, M.A. is a senior lecturer at Ambarrukmo Tourism Institute of Yogyakarta. He graduated from the master's program of Cultural Anthropology and a doctoral degree in Inter-Religious Studies from Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. In the few past years, Dr Widiyanto has conducted research on local community and tourism in Indonesia, Sabah and Penang (Malaysia), Phuket and Hokkaido funded by The Institute of Thai Studies, The Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education and The Sumitomo Foundation. Part of his research has been presented in Yogyakarta, Leiden, Bangkok, Seoul and Kuala Lumpur. Besides authored articles in several international and national journals, he published a travel book Kalapattar; A Cultural Journey in Nepal and Tourism and Japan from The Contemporary Indonesian Perspective. Dr Widiyanto just arrived from joining The In Situ Graduate Schools: Inland Waterway in the Anthropocene Course, at The University of Padova, Italy in September 2023, supported by The International Institute of Asian Studies, the Netherlands.
