Dr Tan Meng Yoe is a Senior Lecturer of Media and Communications Studies and the Deputy Head of School (Education) at the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Monash University Malaysia. His monograph, Malaysian Christians Online: Faith, Experience, and Social Engagement, published in 2020, explored how Malaysian Christians used online platforms such as blogs and social media sites to express and experience Christian community and spirituality in new ways. He has researched and published on how internet practices shape religious and political communication among Malaysians in individual, institutional, and national socio-political contexts. His ongoing curiosity is on the concept of “reality” in cyberspace, and whether spirituality can be experienced online. In recognition of his work, Dr Tan was appointed in 2021 as a Research Fellow in Religion and New Media with the Christian Institute of Theological Engagement (CHRISTE), a chartered Research Institute under the EUCLID prerogative (United Nations Treaty Series 49006/49007).
