Siao Yuong Fong (Rong) is Lecturer of Global Media and Inequality at the Sociology department, Lancaster University. Her first book Performing Fear in Television Production: Practices of an illiberal democracy (Amsterdam University Press, 2022) is an ethnographic study of authoritarian media production in Singapore. Her current research focuses on how the Southeast Asian Sinosphere experiences the global rise of China in the realms of media.
