Guo Hai 郭海 is an Associate Research Fellow and Director of the Center for Foreign Policy Research at Institute of Public Policy (IPP), South China University of Technology. He earned his PhD in East Asian Studies from the University of Leeds, before joining the IPP in September 2019. His research focuses on Sino-Japanese relations from a historical perspective. He has published 2 books (in Chinese) on Chinese foreign policy and a book chapter (in English); his academic articles (in English) feature in international journals including Critical Asian Studies and Asian Studies Review. He is presently writing a book in English on Chinese modern diplomacy from a historical sociological perspective.
