He holds a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is currently staff member of the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, State Islamic University (UIN) Walisongo Semarang. His main academic interests include Environmental Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Islamic Studies, Manuscript Studies, and Islamic History. He has written journal articles and book chapters on these interests. His current research focuses on Islam and Environment.
