Kamila Junik – Assistant Professor in South Asian Studies, former Director of the Centre for Studies on Bangladesh „Bangabandhu” at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. She holds a PhD in Hindi Literature. Her research interests include: contemporary Hindi and Urdu literature, literary and legal translation (Urdu, Hindi), socio-political, religious, and cultural problems in South Asian countries (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh), women’s issues and feminism (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh), visual culture (India, Pakistan), and Islam in South Asia. She has published a monograph on contemporary Hindi prose (2015, in Polish), several translations from and to Hindi and Urdu, as well as papers and chapters concerning contemporary issues of South Asia. For over 15 years she has been teaching Hindi and Urdu, as well as interpreting and translating from/into Urdu and Hindi professionally. Currently she is working on (In)visibility of women in public and visual culture in South Asia (book project).
