5. Transmitting Knowledges: Institutions, Objects and Practices
This research proposal aims to explore the dynamics of scientific knowledge and folklore in the rational choice of disposing of human waste into rivers. The dynamics of scientific knowledge and folklore will be seen in the framework of the rational choices possessed by post-industrial societies, in this case riverside communities. This research will be carried out on residents on the banks of the Brantas watershed, Malang region, East Java. The method that will be used is ethnography with abduction data analysis techniques. The expected theoretical implications are (1) drawing on the concept of knowledge in rational choice theory (2) describing the use of rational choice theory originating from industrialist societies in post-industrialist societies.
