Community-Driven Knowledge Accumulation and Dissemination Through Social Media at The 'Ruang Riung Ceria' Project on Stunting Prevention
Our case study focuses on the 'Ruang Riung Ceria' (meaning Collaborative Cheerful Space in English) stunting prevention center, located in Neighborhood 11 of Rancaekek Wetan Village, Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia. Ruang Riung Ceria represents the power of collaborative, community-centred approaches in addressing complex issues like stunting, especially when government resources and interventions are limited and policies are crafted without any input from the community. Social media platforms have supported this community-driven activity as dynamic canvases for knowledge exchange between the community and people at various layers, from local to global, using various multimedia formats. 'Ruang Riung Ceria' has utilised the power of visual arts, storytelling, and multimedia content through social media to foster open discussions, accumulate knowledge and encourage collaborative problem solving. Social media has also built local cohesion and connected cultures and communities, enabling the exchange of ideas far beyond the village's boundaries. This abstract explores how social media has woven together the threads of creativity, community, and experience to provide an accessible, interactive, and expansive platform for knowledge accumulation and dissemination, instigating behaviour change within the local community.
