Dr. Jinchao ZHAO is an art historian of Chinese Buddhist art. She is currently an assistant professor in art history in the School of Humanities, Tongji University, Shanghai. She earned her M.A. in Comparative Literature from Peking University and a Ph.D. in art and architectural history from the University of Virginia in 2021. She completed a joint-postdoctoral fellowship of Global Asia studies at NYU Shanghai and Fudan University in summer 2023. Dr. Zhao’s other research interests include Buddhist visual narratives, early Indian art, and artistic interactions between China and India in the 20th Century. Her research articles have appeared in Religions, Asian Studies, and Eurasian Studies, among others.
