Roundtable Abstract:
The river that initially brought immigrants to the archipelago was a route from sea to land and trade transportation. Track record of the formation of traditional settlement spaces, places of worship, sites, navigation of cultural landscapes show a spectacular heritage values. Due to the diversity of our rivers and cultures, community engagement should empower a diverse cross-cutting of stakeholders to identify key values in their urban areas, develop visions, set goals, and agree on actions to safeguard their heritage and promote sustainable development. These roundtable discussion should facilitate intercultural dialogue by learning from other communities about their histories, traditions, values, needs and aspirations and by facilitating mediation and negotiation between conflicting interests and groups.
