At present, Moumita Dey is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Geography, St. Xavier's College Burdwan. She worked at Amity University Kolkata from 2020-2022. In 2013, she was awarded with Junior Research Fellowship by the University Grant Commission. She completed her doctoral research in feminist geography from the Department of Geography, University of Calcutta in 2019. She has expertise in Geography of Gender, Social Geography, Cultural Geography, Visual Geography, Queer Geography, Urban Sociology. A number of government agencies and well-known organizations have funded her attendance at workshops like ICCSR and ISST. She has completed Faculty Development courses from IIT Guwahati, IIT Madras, and IIT Kharagpur. She has been funded to pursue courses at Different Global Universities- University of Pennsylvania, University of Colorado, Boulder, the University of Singapore, University of Manchester, etc. Regional Science Association of India awarded her in 2015 for her outstanding paper presentation. She has presented papers at conferences including the Royal Geographical Society, London, International Archaeological Conference, Romania, and the Visual Methodology Conference, Singapore. She has published several articles and book chapters in a variety of journals, edited volumes, and reviewed books for the American Association of Geographers, Journal of Eurasian Geography and Economies.
