Leung Mee Ping (https://www.lmp.hk/) was born in Hong Kong. She received her BFA from L’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France, her MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, USA, and her PhD from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Religious & Cultural Studies Department). She is a Professor and Director Emeritus of the Centre for Research and Development in Visual Arts at The Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University. Among other roles, she has been the principal research investigator of “Socially Engaged Art in Post-Colonial Hong Kong and Southeast Asia” (https://sociallyengaged-project.com/). Her art evolves through a research-based practice progressing to experimental interaction and integration. Leung Mee Ping’s works can integrate elements and platforms of theatre, design, commercial space, and social space to extend performance or action. These can be read as issue-based creativity. Her works concern the ethics, community, and memories of the human living situation, closely intertwining with her ongoing research into visual culture and globalization.
