Community Architects of East Java (Arkom Jatim), Indonesia
Puspitaningtyas Sulistyowati – affectionately known as Tyas – is currently Leader of Creative Economy Department of Arkom Jatim. Tyas’s interest in urban issues and social justice for marginal communities led her to be involved in various research projects and collective actions with academics and the city’s creative communities. Previously, Tyas had the experience as coordinator of settlement planning and post-disaster reconstruction in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, adhering to participatory design approaches. Tyas is also interested in social entrepreneurship as a supporting arm to enable sustainability of community empowerment efforts.
Tyas was born in Surabaya in year 1990. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a master’s degree in Urban Planning; both from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (Tenth November Institute of Technology), Surabaya.
